How do I convert a video?
Drag video files onto the mp4ify window, or click "Choose Videos…". Conversion starts automatically.
Where are my converted files saved?
By default, converted files go to your Downloads folder. If you'd like them saved right next to the originals instead, open the save menu, choose "Add folder…", and pick the folder your videos live in (subfolders are included). mp4ify remembers your choice.
Is my video uploaded anywhere?
No. All conversion happens on your Mac. Your files are never uploaded or sent anywhere.
Some files say "Done" and others say "Re-encoded" — what's the difference?
"Done" means the file was converted instantly with no change to the video quality (a lossless container swap). "Re-encoded" means the file had to be rebuilt to play smoothly — for example, some AVI files — using Apple's built-in VideoToolbox. Both results play and preview normally.
Which Macs are supported?
mp4ify runs on Macs with Apple Silicon (M1 or later).
